Antique Maple Bed

This wonderful local bed was distributed by McClaren & Co., a dry goods company in St. Catharines, ON that operated in the late 1800's - early 1900's. The bed was brought to us as a large pile of loose boards and the customer asked if there was anything we could do.

We did a mock assembly as seen in the "before" photo to see what parts were missing. The lower panels missing for the head and footboard were re-created using original joinery methods to fit the period of the piece.

The old varnish was stripped off, the replacement panels were glued and the bed frame was tightened. We then worked with the customer to find a colour choice with a hand rubbed glaze finish to suit this century old bed.

Refinishing of Kitchen Cabinets

This customer had just purchased a house and did not like the white stained kitchen that was badly sun faded and turning yellow. They wanted to refinish the cabinetry and update the color to a more modern warm cinnamon tone to suit their taste. All the doors and drawers were refinished in our shop and the cabinetry was refinished on site. New hardware was selected and installed and in the end the customer was very happy with the “like new” kitchen at only a fraction of the cost.

Cane Nursing Rocker

This weathered nursing rocker was brought in with the finish practically non-existent and the cane badly damaged. We removed what was left of the old cane and completely repaired, re-glued and refinished it in a medium walnut stain. The cane seat and back was then hand woven back into the rocking chair.
